11 weeks old!

On June 8th Audrey had her appointment for her first set of immunizations and she did great! She was not too fussy and overall it wasn't too traumatizing for either one of us! At that appointment she weighed 11 lbs., 15 oz. and measured 23 in. in length, she's growing so fast!! The past few weeks have been pretty busy meeting new friends, Laker playoffs and celebrating Father's Day. Here are some pics from recent events:

7 weeks old & Happy Birthday to Me!!

It's been a busy couple of weeks and I am finally getting a chance to update you all on how little Miss Audrey is doing. It is amazing how quickly things change! When she is awake she is so much more alert, follows things with her eyes, and if she's in a new environment she is studying all of it's details. She is also cooing and smiling and making so many other noises in response to us talking to her or even without being provoked at all. Her favorite thing is to laugh at us when we realize what little (or big!) present she has left for us when we take her to the changing table.

Yesterday was my birthday and Audrey's gift to me the last few nights has been to sleep for 6-7 hours! She is doing great and I am a very proud Momma! Yesterday was also Audrey's first night at a sushi restaurant and she did great...it was a little run through for Marcos and I to see how she'd do (and how we'd do for that matter) in a restaurant. She definitely demonstrated her restaurant manners for us. :) Tonight we are going to dinner with my parents and my sister, Julia, so we'll see if she enjoys an Italian restaurant as much as a sushi restaurant. :) After dinner we went to the Farmers Market that they have by our house which was a lot of fun. We ran into one of our old boot camp instructors, Darren, who also works for Upland PD. Last time he saw us he was getting us in shape for our wedding so it was fun to get to introduce him to Audrey.

Below are some pics from the past two weeks in chronological order. (That's my OCD for ya!) Enjoy!!

Showing off one of her outfits from "across the pond" - a gift from our old neighbors (The Smiths) who now live in England.

Meeting her first girlfriend, Kaitlyn Mackenzie - her daddy, Matt, was best man at our wedding.

Mommy and Audrey showing their Laker pride (so what if her shirt is too big and mine is a smidge too tight thanks to breastfeeding, haha!!)

I love hanging out with Grandma and getting a bottle too! :)

Exhausted Daddy and Audrey!

First time falling asleep in her swing. Ok, so it's starting to freak me out a little how much Audrey looks like I did in pictures from when I was a baby. We will be down at my parents house this weekend and I will try to find some pics to scan to show the similarities.

Hanging out poolside with my Great Grandma - Lita!! :)

Last day at our Moms' Group - we're still working on the group picture thing and getting Audrey to look towards the camera. The boys in the pic are about 10 weeks old and the other baby girl (second from the left) was born 2 days after Audrey.

In case I lose track of time when Audrey is napping she is so thoughtful to rotate around in her bassinet to let me know what time it is. In this picture she is demonstrating 12:00.

And here she has rotated to 3:00 - time to get up and eat again! What a smart girl, huh?!? :)

Heading out the door but she had a major case of bed head so we had to rinse her hair out first. See the curls when it's still wet? She looks like a different baby to me when her head is wet!

5 weeks old today!!

Wow! How time flies! Our days go by so quickly trying to keep Audrey on a schedule for feeding, playing, and sleeping that I barely have any time to get on the computer, phone, etc. That is my excuse for the extreme delay in updating the blog. Sorry! I will now make up for it with some great pictures of Audrey who turned 5 weeks old today. She was weighed yesterday and is 9 lbs., 14 ozs. - a couple ounces shy of what she should be compared to her birth weight.

Doing her impression of Maggie from 'The Simpsons'. If I was savvy enough to get a video on here you would hear how loud she sucks on her pacifier...it's hilarious!

Showing off a new outfit! She experienced her first fashion blunder when the other baby girl in our Mom's Group had on the same top as her. Like in the mags when it says 'Who wore it better' - being completely biased I think Audrey wore it better! :)

Keeping a sense of humor!

Enjoying some tummy time!

Towel drying that massive head of hair after a bath. :)

Watching The Lakers with Daddy on Mother's Day.

2 weeks old!

Today our little Audrey turns 2 weeks old. In some ways it seems like that time has gone by so fast and at other times (like when I'm feeling exhausted) it feels like it has been a long time. Audrey is doing great and is working out the shift from sleeping all day and having a harder time sleeping at night. This past weekend we brushed up on the info we had read in 'Baby Wise' about sleep schedules and getting baby on a regular cycle and she is adjusting quite well. She fusses sometimes when it is time to go back down for a nap but it is better that she is fussing during the day than at night. I have been pumping to breastfeed her because I incurred some pretty severe damage from this barracuda baby in the first week or so and am in recovery. It is tiresome to have a whole other activity added to the schedule as the pumping process takes about 25 minutes from set-up to clean up, then it's time to feed baby. The nice thing is that Marcos is able to feed her as well which he really seems to enjoy. Even pumping is still painful for me and I just keep telling myself that I will reach that mark where it will start to feel more tolerable and we can just move on without it causing me anxiety.

Back to the fun stuff...

Here are some pics of Audrey from the past few days:

Enjoying the bouncy seat from Auntie Lindsay - it has a vibration setting on it and she seemed to really be enjoying herself. Mommy wants a bouncy seat for herself too!!

This is what Audrey does about 16-18 hours a day. We purchased this 'Sleep Nest' on her second night home so she could sleep in the bed between Marcos and me. She did not like it at first but after using it during the day in the Pack 'n Play she transitioned to using it in the bassinet and only spent 2 nights in our bed. It's supposed to help with the transition to the crib as well so we're looking forward to that.

First official walk over the weekend. We went for a nice mile + walk on Saturday and got to test out our Jeep jogging stroller. Matt and Jen Kurth showed us their stroller for Baby Kaitlyn back in November and we fell in love with it. Audrey likes it as well.
Sorry that I have not been able to get back in touch with everyone that has called to check in with us. The days actually go by so fast and between keeping up with Audrey's schedule and my pumping schedule it is difficult to carve out phone time. I will be in touch as best I can but wanted to update the blog so you can at least see some pics of our little one. Thanks everyone! :)

Baby Update ~ 40 weeks+

I never thought I would still be pregnant when this date was first revealed to us when this little one was only 5 weeks+ at the first ultrasound. My mom came up to go to the doctor's with me this morning because Marcos was at work and at our appointments we never know how long it will take. I wasn't patient enough to wait for an afternoon appointment so it was great that my mom was able to join me. We knew that the decision to induce was on the table and today was that day. At this point my body is ready and baby is ready we're just missing the contractions. Sooooo, tomorrow morning we are heading to the hospital and I will be induced first thing in the morning. I feel much better knowing that it's finally time...I was starting to get really anxious this past weekend and in fact yesterday I was a bit of a grumpy grump about the whole thing - poor Marcos. We are very excited and enjoying this final evening before the big day. Hopefully we will be able to sleep tonight! Thank you to everyone for you thoughts, prayers and well wishes!! :)

"Any day now..."

That was the report from the doctor yesterday afternoon. I have made some more progress but not really feeling any contractions yet. I was reassured when my doctor told us that she was on call this weekend so it looks like she will definitely be the one delivering this baby. If the baby is anything like me she is waiting for the weekend to come when it's most convenient for all of the family to make their way to come see us and meet this little girl upon her arrival. I am still feeling pretty good just getting more tired particularly in the second half of the day. This morning I am headed to the police station to have the car seat checked out for proper installation by the deputy that is "certified" in checking these for people. I think Marcos installed it correctly but he wanted me to get it checked just to be sure. I will try and get a picture of my growing belly that measured 41cm yesterday and post that later today. Thanks for checking up on us! :)
