I'm still pregnant!

Hello All!!! I wanted to say thank you to everyone who continues to check in on me either through the blog or by contacting me or Marcos. No baby yet!! We had a productive weekend doing more things around the house and at this point everyday is just another chance to get something else out of the way. I am a master procrastinator (do you believe me?? :)) so to me it only makes sense that our baby is not here yet. Marcos thinks that maybe it's because I haven't finished reading "Baby Wise" yet and once that's done I'll be totally prepared. LOL! That is a great book by the way for those of you getting started with newborns of your own. (Thanks Traci!!) We will continue to try and keep you all posted! Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers!

Baby Update ~ 39 weeks

Monday was my first official day of maternity leave and it feels like it came just in time. At the beginning of the week I was really not feeling well at all and thankful that I was finally able to stay home. I was having trouble getting anything done, feeling exhausted no matter how much I rested and feeling nauseous and hungry at the same time. I was anxious to go to the doctor yesterday to see how things were progressing.

Well, she assured me that I probably haven't been feeling well as I have made quite a bit of progress since the last time she checked me and that was good news. I won't go into all of the details here but if you catch me on the phone or in person I would be happy to share! :) Ironically today I feel much better and able to get things done so perhaps it was the reassurance of the doctor that everything was going well. The doctor is funny because she was not going to give me any predictions about when I might be heading to the hospital except to say that "if I were still pregnant next week she'd see me on Wednesday".

Marcos and I are enjoying our time together and I am enjoying the time to myself for maternity leave so at this point I can say we will be ready for out little girl whenever she is ready. I'm not running around the house screaming, "get this baby out of me" quite yet! :) We'll try and keep things as up to date on here as best we can. Marcos might need to have a little blog tutorial tonight so I can hand the responsibilities over to him for a couple days should I be out of commission. Take care everyone! :)

Nursery Pics

Here are some pictures that I took today of the nursery. We are waiting for the glider that is on back order (and has been forever it seems!) as well as for a hutch piece that goes above the changing table. We are so happy with how the room has come together. There are still some things to finish like hanging some frames on the walls and putting the baby's name up in wood letters as soon as we've made our final decision. What do you think?:

View from the hallway as you enter the room.

We plan to put the glider in the space to the right of the changing table & lamp.

Baby Update - 38 Weeks

Yesterday we went for another visit with the doctor. Everything continues to be going well, our baby girl remains head down and I had the doctor feel around to tell me which body part is constantly poking me on my upper left side. She thought it was a bottom but my guess is that it's a knee or thigh or something because she gets some good jabs at me with whatever part that is. :) She seems to be rolling around a bit though so maybe sometimes it's a knee and other times it's her bottom. The doctor estimated that the baby is about 7 - 7.5 lbs so at this rate she will most likely be right around 8 lbs. which seems like the norm these days according to the doctor.
Tomorrow is my last official day of work - YEAH! I am really excited to be home and finish the projects that we have going on around here. Hopefully in the next few days I will be able to post a picture of the nursery as it is just about complete. I have been even more tired in the last week and I think I average about 9-10 hours of sleep a day! I have also been trying to keep up with my walking (3-4 days/week) and go around the path in our neighborhood which is 1.8 miles. It's hard to get out there most of the time but once I get going it helps to loosen me up as it gets easy to feel stiff sitting at a desk all day or laying down for too long, etc. Other than that not much else to report. Here's a picture from last Saturday night:

Baby Shower #2

On March 7th my sister and mom threw a baby shower for me with our friends and family. We were so lucky it was absolutely a beautiful day...not too hot, not too cold and it was sunny and clear. It was so great to see our friends and family that I don't get to see that often and spend a fun time with everyone. Here are some pics from the day:

Beautiful day!!!

Julia made a beautiful "diaper cake". We are so proud of her creative abilities! :)

My mom & me....37 weeks.

Loooooong time friends, Jenn, Jessica & Kelly :)

Baby Update - 37 weeks

I am officially on the schedule to see the doctor on a weekly basis now. Last week we went to an appointment and learned that the baby is doing well and her heart beat is strong. She is already facing head down and the doctor explained that she will probably stay that way until delivery but it is possible that she may move out of there. I am still feeling pretty good, I just get tired now and again and when I do it is hard to get over it even when I rest. I am wrapping things up at work and getting ready to go on maternity leave soon. We should have some pictures of the nursery to post pretty soon as we are getting close to finishing that as well. I will post another update next week. :)
